MORE FAITH THAN I POSSESS

Lyrics by Stan C. Countz

Take a look all around you
Are you too blind to see?
His handiwork surrounds you
Observe the earth, the sky and sea

Can a painting of vast beauty paint itself?
Can fallow ground plant and till itself?
Can a building plan and build itself?
Then how can man create himself?

It takes more faith than I possess
To place my faith in randomness
Or in a theory or educated guess
Or a well-meant hypothesis

Since when does order come from chaos?
Let’s use the brain our creator gave us
For greater is He who is in us
Than he that is in the world…

To believe that life just happened
Is more than simple, it’s absurd
To believe we came from nothin’
A miracle must have occurred

And we don’t believe in miracles now do we?
Look around you. Are you too blind to see
His handiwork surrounds you
Observe the earth, the sky and sea

I’ll be a monkey’s uncle; you have more faith than I
Even Simon and Garfunkle must have finally realized
That no man is a rock or an island to himself
That grounds and fields can’t plant and till themselves
That buildings and people can’t plan and build themselves
So deliver us from evil and save us from ourselves
